cholesterol), HDL (good cholesterol) and Triglycerides.

 

 

 

Dietary approaches to lower blood cholesterol include:

  • Maintain a healthy body weight
  • Reduce total fat (<30% calories) and saturated fat (<10% calories)
  • Limit animal products and cholesterol rich foods: incorporate more plant based foods
  • Include high fiber foods (especially soluble fiber)
  • Limit red meat consumption; include more lean chicken, turkey and fish
  • Exercise regularly to help increase HDL (good cholesterol)
